the chimney sweep cometh

time today for Mark to sweep the woodburner chimney. . .
all the ash emptied, the fire bricks removed

and the entire room covered with sheets
to protect against soot

(of course, the sweep has his little helper!)

the brush goes right up through the chimney-
you can just see the point of the brush top-
it can't come out the chimney because of the metal cowl

and after everything is dusted down
the room is put back together again, fire lit,
and sweep's little helper can reap the rewards of her busy day

You have a beautiful home. I love the red tiles nothing better than a real fire at this time of year I don't think I would get anything done I could sit in front of it and crochet to my hearts content. We had a fire when I was growing up I used to sit in front of it all the time and my dad used to call me asbestos pants but don't tell anyone :-) dee x

Snap - we have a fire surround just like yours, but ours is new and painted wood. I'll bet yours is an original! Love the red tiles.

We've sold a lot of old sheets for dust sheets at the charity shop this week - perhaps lots of chimneys are being swept ?

Elaine a few of us are meeting at the Winchester Christmas markets Dec 5th would you be interested ?
